Our Identity

Our Beliefs

Our Core Values

Cornerstone Baptist Church is a fellowship of believers committed to practicing the Great Commandment and fulfilling the Great Commission.

God:  We believe there is one God who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus:  We believe Jesus is the Son of God, was born of a virgin, was wholly God and wholly man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind, was buried, arose bodily from the grave and ascended into heaven.

Christ's Return:  We believe that Jesus Christ will literally return to earth.

Holy Spirit:  We believe that God the Holy Spirit is active in convincing unbelievers of their need for salvation and is the Comforter and Guide who lives in every believer.

Bible:  We believe that the Bible is the Work of God without any error, it is the sole authority for life and faith.

Man:  We believe that man is a special creation of God, made in His image, but through the sin of the first man, Adam, mankind fell so that all men are sinners and need salvation.

Salvation:  We believe that salvation is a gift received through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Assurance:  We believe that every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Eternity:  We believe that those persons who die in their sins without Christ spend eternity in hell and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Christ spend eternity in Heaven.

Baptism:  We believe that water baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Christ and is by immersion after salvation.

Church:  We believe that the church is a local body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as the Head.

Prayer:  We believe each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Government:  We believe in the separation of church and state, but not in separaton of God and government.  Christians are salt and light in society.

Affiliation:  We are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC).  This allows us to identify with other Christians around the world who are known for their commitment to the Bible.  Unlike other groups, the SBC has no man-made creed, the Bible is our ONLY authority.  Through the SBC's "Cooperative Program", we help support more than 10,600 missionaries around the world.  This allows our church to participate in the largest missionary organization in the world.  As part of the SBC, we are an independent church body.  Every SBC church is completely independent.  There is no denominanational control or hierarchy as there are in other denominations.  Every SBC church chooses its own pastor and staff, owns its own property, and determines its own programs.

Missions:   We demonstrate our love for God and people by sharing the message of Jesus Christ through giving, praying, and going. (Matthew 28:18-20)

Prayer:  We value prayer as a means by which we communicate with God and through which He brings about eternal change. (Luke 11:1-13)

Fellowship:  We believe authentic and loving relationships are deepened by spending time with God's people through all of life's experiences.  (Acts 2:42-47)

Biblical Preaching / Teaching:  We strive to teach the Bible with integrity and authority so that seekers can find Christ and believers can mature in Him.  (Romans 10:14, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Worship:  We desire to acknowledge God's supreme value and worth in our personal lives and celebrate Him through corporate worship. (Romans 12:1-2)

Evangelism:  We believe that all people need a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and we will use ever available Christ-honoring means to pursue, win, and disciple them. (Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 19:10)

Discipleship:  We seek to equip Christ followers to transform the world for Him. (Ephesians 4:11-13)

The Cornerstone story is one of faith, risk, and God's faithfulness.

In 1985, Chantilly Baptist Church and Albemarle Road Baptist Church joined together to birth Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Since that time, God has brought hundreds of people to be a part of Cornerstone, He has provided everything that we have needed and positioned Cornerstone to be a powerful influence for the Kingdom of God in Charlotte.  The faith of those two churches still lives on as Cornerstone continues to grow and influence people for Christ.
